I had a blast today at the Chicago Auto Show on press day as someone who was there just to take in the sights and sit in some drivers seats. I snapped a lot of smartphone photos, and here is a sampling - I'll make a more comprehensive post this weekend at some point.
GT!
OG GT!
Miata!
Speedhunters Max Attack FRS!
The meanest rear end in the business!

How can you go during a press day?

I have a friend who works for a major manufacturer and part of what he does involves attending all the shows. Chicago is my hometown so he got me a pass and told me to come on down!

It was literally tucked against the back wall of the hall! One of the greatest automobiles ever designed!

I'm too jealous. I will only die happy once I've seen one in the metal.

Now I know what to look for when I go next Friday.

It is gorgeous, and sits soooooooooooo low. I'm 5'10" and the roof line was well below my waist level.

What a terrible shot of this bitchin' xB, what are you even doing?

In your opinion how does the new GT look in person vs in photos?

Pretty mean. I've seen a number of the 2005-2007 GT's and I think that design managed to give a nod to the original while still moving things forward as a halo car should.
This iteration really looks like something we were told we would be driving in the future. I've never seen anything like the buttress that connects the roof line to the rear quarter panel, and so I am left using an architectural term here. I was a little skeptical when I saw the photos coming out of the Detroit show, but having seen it in person it is really a stunning car - I've never seen anything like it.
I cannot wait to see what it looks like in racing trim!

The Ford GT model years were only 2005 and 2006. There wasn't a 2007 GT.

I'll see you soon my friend, I'll see you soon!

Awesome, this day didn't have a dress code right? Tomorrow night is black tie event I know. I'm working the show actually, for our SAE car.

I stand corrected, but you know what car I'm talking about...
